The 1001996 Seal Inside is an inner wheel bearing grease seal used in aircraft main wheel assemblies, commonly in Wipline float and amphibious landing gear systems. It works together with the outer seal (1001994) to fully enclose the wheel bearing cavity and retain grease while preventing water, dirt, and debris from entering the hub.

It is installed on the inboard side of the wheel assembly, forming the inner barrier of the sealed bearing environment. This is critical in floatplane and amphibious operations where constant exposure to water significantly increases contamination risk.
